Your data and deleting it
Last updated October 24, 2026
You decide what Sancy AI keeps. This page is the plain version of the privacy controls: where the buttons are, what each one does, and what we cannot remove.
- Get a copy of it
- Reading your syllabus
- Your study calendar in another calendar app
- Delete a course or reset what the tutor knows
- Delete your account
- What we cannot remove
- If you cannot sign in
Get a copy of it
Email privacy@sancyai.com from the address on your account and ask for a copy. We may ask you to confirm that you control the address, and within 45 days we send you one file with your profile, courses, material and grades, and everything our servers hold about your account: your account settings, what you agreed to, usage counts, ratings and notes you sent, your synced study data (what your tutor remembers included; anything kept only on a device and never synced is not on our servers, so it can't be included), a list of your answer keys, the lectures our server kept for them, whether you made a private calendar link and when, any free trial saved into your account, and usage events. Left out: what each answer key says (it stays hidden so it can't be used to look up answers; it is built from your material, which is included), the answer kept with a Show it question, for the same reason, the secret parts of your calendar link, the token we keep only to end Sign in with Apple when you delete your account, internal bookkeeping such as when we last emailed you a reminder, and short-lived counters that limit how often something can be done.
Reading your syllabus
- When you add a syllabus (on the website in Add course, a course's exams, the exam plan or setup; in the iPhone or iPad app in a course's Exams or setup), its text is sent once to our AI provider to find the exams in it, as with any material you upload. Sancy AI keeps what it found, not the syllabus: each exam's name, date, time, room, weight and what it covers, the first day of classes and the weekly topics. Contact details in it are left out.
- Nothing is saved until you check it. Dates the syllabus doesn't give stay empty for you to fill in. You can change or delete any exam afterwards from the course.
Your study calendar in another calendar app
- On the website, open the Calendar, then More, then Add to calendar app (or You, then Calendar app). In the iPhone or iPad app, open You, then Calendar. You get a private link that Apple, Google or Outlook calendar subscribes to. It shows your study blocks and exam days and nothing else, and it can't change anything in Sancy AI.
- Anyone who has the link can see what it shows, so keep it to yourself. Make a new link and the old one stops working at once; turn it off and no link works. Deleting your account stops it too. We keep only a fingerprint of the link, never the link itself.
- Once you add the link to a calendar app, that company (Apple, Google or Microsoft) fetches it and keeps a copy under its own privacy policy. Stopping the link stops new updates; remove the calendar in that app to remove its copy.
- In the iPhone or iPad app, Add to Calendar puts the same events in a Sancy AI calendar in the Calendar app, kept in the account your Calendar app uses for new events (iCloud for most people). Sancy AI changes only that calendar and doesn't read your other events. Remove, signing out or deleting your account removes it from the device.
Delete a course or reset what the tutor knows
Open the course and choose Delete course, or open You, then Privacy, then Tutor Memory and clear everything your tutor remembers (your past mix-ups, what you marked as helpful, and the study habits, strengths and next focus it keeps for you). Each takes effect straight away on your device, and on your other devices when they next sync.
Deleting a course removes it from your devices and your synced data, and deletes the answer keys and lectures our server built from it. If you are signed in, a copy of the course (its material, grades and flashcards, never its session history) is kept for 30 days in You, Privacy and data, Recently Deleted, so you can bring it back from any device; choose Delete Now there to remove that copy at once. After 30 days it is deleted for good. Removing a material from a course (on the website), or replacing all of a course's material, deletes the answer keys and lectures of the topics built from it or that cited its pages. If your device is offline, our server deletes them the next time it connects.
Delete your account
- Go to You, then Privacy and data, then Delete account, and confirm.
- Our servers go first. We check that every step can be done, then cancel any Pro subscription and delete your customer record at Stripe (Stripe keeps the payment records financial law requires), delete every usage event linked to your account, and last delete your account record, which removes your synced study data and answer keys, the record of what you agreed to, and every rating, explanation and note you sent. Only if all of that works do we clear Sancy AI's data from the device you are using. If the account had the $3.00 first week or a free trial, one thing stays for 12 months: a code made from its email address with a secret key (never the address), so the same offer isn't given to a new account with that address.
- If a step fails, the app tells you, your account and the data on this device stay, and you can simply try again. Anything already done by then stays done: a cancelled subscription stays cancelled, and deleted usage events stay deleted.
- Other browsers or devices where you used Sancy AI keep their local copy until you clear it there or sign in again, which removes it. The copy on our servers is deleted with your account.
What we cannot remove
- Usage events recorded before you made an account. They carry a random browser ID and no name, no email and no text of your work, so we cannot tell which are yours.
- Ordinary request logs and backups held by our hosting and database providers, which age out under their own policies.
- Requests already sent to Anthropic for tutoring, which follow Anthropic's retention period described in the Privacy Policy.
- A problem report you sent us by email, or notes we made from one while working on an issue, may remain after deletion; ask us and we will remove them.
- Sign-in and email delivery logs held by our database and email providers (they can include your email address and IP address), which age out under their own policies.
- On an iPhone or iPad, the check that a device started a trial this month, which Apple holds for that device and not for any account.
If you cannot sign in
Email support@sancyai.com from the address on your account and say what you want: a copy, a correction or deletion. We answer within 45 days, as the Privacy Policy explains. We may ask you to confirm you control the address, for example by replying to a code we send.
