Terms of Use
Last updated October 26, 2026
These Terms are a binding agreement between you and Sancy AI LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("we", "us") about using Sancy AI on the website and in the iPhone and iPad app. By creating an account or using Sancy AI you agree to them and to the Privacy Policy. Please read the section called Disputes and arbitration: unless you opt out within 30 days, it says disputes are settled by individual arbitration, not in court or as a class action. The short version comes first; the full Terms follow. Effective October 21, 2026.

The short version
- Sancy AI is for adults 18 and over in the United States. One account per person.
- Your notes and what you write and say stay yours. We use them only to run Sancy AI for you, and never to train AI models.
- The tutor is an AI. It can be wrong, it is not a doctor, lawyer or counselor, and it is not an emergency service.
- Use it to learn, not to cheat: it checks your understanding and never writes your graded work.
- Pro renews until you cancel. Cancel any time: on the website in one click, in the app through Apple.
- If we have a dispute, we first try to sort it out by email. If that fails, it goes to individual arbitration, not a class action, unless you opt out within 30 days. Claims must be brought within two years.
Who can use Sancy AI
- You must be 18 or older and live in the United States. Sancy AI is not for anyone under 18. By using it you confirm that you are 18 or older.
- If you are under 18, do not use Sancy AI. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it and delete its data, as the Privacy Policy describes.
- You may not use Sancy AI if you are barred from doing so under the laws of the United States, or if we have closed an account of yours before for breaking these Terms (an account closed only because you were under 18 does not count once you are 18).
- One account per person. Give us true information, keep your email address current, and keep your sign-in codes to yourself. You are responsible for what happens in your account. Tell us at once at support@sancyai.com if you think someone else has used it.
- If you are using Sancy AI for an employer or a school, you confirm you may agree to these Terms for yourself.
Academic integrity
Sancy AI checks your understanding; it never writes your assignments. Do not use it to complete graded work for you or in a way your instructor or school does not allow. Following your school's rules is your responsibility.
We are not responsible for any academic, disciplinary or professional consequence of how you use Sancy AI or what it produces.
Not medical advice, and no patient information
Sancy AI is for learning. Nothing in it is medical, legal, financial or professional advice, and it must not be used to diagnose or treat anyone. Never upload patient information or anyone's protected health information. We are not a HIPAA business associate and do not sign business associate agreements.
Not an emergency service
The tutor is an AI, not a person, and it is not a counselor, doctor or therapist. It is not watched by a person in real time and cannot send help. If you or someone else is in danger, call 911. In a mental health crisis, call or text 988. The Safety page explains what the tutor does if you tell it something serious.
Your content
- Your content is what you add to Sancy AI (notes, slides, PDFs, photos, syllabi) and what you type, say or draw in it. It stays yours.
- You give us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process and transmit your content only to run Sancy AI for you: for example to build your course, send the needed parts to our AI provider, grade your answers, make flashcards and sync your data between your devices. We may let our service providers do the same on our behalf, only for that purpose. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies the Privacy Policy says we keep for a limited time.
- We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not show it to other users or publish it.
- Only upload material you have the right to use, such as your own notes and material your instructor gave your class. You are responsible for your content and for having the rights it needs. If someone believes their copyright is infringed, our Copyright and takedowns page explains how to tell us.
- Do not upload other people's personal information unless you have the right to, and never upload anyone's health information, government ID numbers, financial account numbers or passwords.
What the AI makes for you
- As between you and us, you own what the tutor makes for you from your content (for example flashcards, summaries, explanations and practice questions), to the extent the law allows anyone to own it. We give you any rights we have in it.
- AI can give the same or similar answers to other people. You have no rights in what it makes for anyone else, and others have none in what it makes for you.
- The answer keys our server builds to grade you stay hidden on our server so they cannot be used to look up answers. You can see one answer when you choose to reveal it.
AI can be wrong
The tutor, its grades, hints, answers, flashcards and practice tests come from AI and can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, even when they sound sure. Check anything important against your course material and your instructors. Scores and mastery are a study aid, not a promise of how you will do on an exam, and not a credential.
Do not rely on Sancy AI for any decision that could affect anyone's health, safety, legal rights, money or job.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Sancy AI, or let anyone else use your account, to do any of the following:
- Break any law or anyone else's rights, including copyright, privacy and publicity rights.
- Harass, threaten, bully or defame anyone, or upload hateful, sexually explicit or violent material.
- Make, upload or ask for any sexual content involving a minor, including drawn, fictional or AI-generated content. We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, as the law requires.
- Try to make the AI produce harmful content, such as instructions for weapons, self-harm or crime, or use any prompt meant to get around its rules.
- Try to read the hidden answer keys, the instructions we give the AI, or anyone else's data, or get around our limits, the age check, the human check or our security.
- Probe, scan, overload or disrupt our systems, upload malware, or use Sancy AI through bots, scrapers or other automated means, except the calendar link we give you.
- Copy, mirror, frame, scrape or harvest Sancy AI's code, design, text, Library, lessons, boards, pictures or questions (your own content and what the tutor made for you are yours to keep), or make a copy or look-alike of Sancy AI; or reverse engineer, decompile or take apart the app, except where the law lets you despite this rule.
- Resell, sublicense or share access to Sancy AI, or use it or what it makes to build or train a competing product or AI model.
- Pretend to be someone else, or misstate your age or where you live.
Subscriptions
- Sancy AI Pro comes in three plans, and each unlocks the same Pro: Pro Weekly, $3.00 for the first week, then $7.99 a week, billed weekly; Pro Monthly, free for 7 days, then $14.99 a month, billed monthly; and Pro Yearly, free for 7 days, then $99.99 a year, billed yearly. Prices are in US dollars. Bought on the website, Pro is charged in advance through Stripe. Bought in the iPhone or iPad app, it is an App Store subscription: Apple charges it in advance to your Apple Account, at the price the App Store shows before you buy (it can differ slightly; for example the App Store's first week is $2.99), and Apple's terms for App Store purchases apply as well.
- Introductory offers on the website: each account gets one, either the $3.00 first week or one 7-day free trial, never both and never twice, and not again for a new account made with the email address of a deleted one that had it. Nothing is charged during a free trial. If you don't cancel before it ends, the plan's price is charged on the day it ends and again every week, month or year after that. Your confirmation email gives the date the trial ends and the price that follows. In the App Store, Apple decides whether your Apple Account can have the App Store's free week or first-week price.
- The plan, its price, any introductory price or free trial, how often it bills, that it renews until you cancel, and how to cancel are shown next to the button before you pay; on the website you tick a separate box to agree to the renewal, and in the app you confirm it on Apple's purchase sheet.
- Pro renews automatically at the end of each week, month or year, at your plan's price, until you cancel. Bought on the website, you can cancel online at any time from You, Plan, then Manage subscription, which opens Stripe's customer portal, where cancelling takes one click. Bought in the app, only Apple can cancel it: in your iPhone or iPad's Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions (You, Plan, Manage subscription takes you there), at least 24 hours before the period ends. Deleting your Sancy AI account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the end of the week, month or year you paid for, or of your free trial. Cancel before a free trial ends and you are not charged.
- Refunds: payments are not refunded for part of a week, month or year, except where the law requires a refund. If you were charged in error on the website, email support@sancyai.com and we will refund it. App Store purchases are refunded only by Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com); if Apple refunds one, its Pro ends.
- For a subscription bought on the website, we will email you at least 30 days before any price change takes effect, and you can cancel before then, and we email you once a year with the terms of your subscription. For an App Store subscription, Apple tells you about price changes and asks for your agreement where its rules require.
- After you subscribe on the website we email you a confirmation with these terms, how to cancel, and a link to cancel. Apple sends its own receipt for an App Store purchase.
Usage limits
- AI tutoring and voice cost us money each time they are used, so every account has limits on them. They are measured by what the AI and voice services cost us, not by anything you pay, and reaching one never adds a charge.
- With Pro, the limit follows your plan and what it brings in after the app store's or payment processor's fee: a set share of each week's payment on Pro Weekly, of each month's on Pro Monthly, and, on Pro Yearly, a twelfth of the year's share for each month, counted from the day of the month you bought or renewed it. On Pro Yearly, what a month leaves unused carries forward to the months after it, as far back as we keep usage records (90 days, so about the last two or three months), and nothing is borrowed from months still to come, so a busy exam month can use more than an average month. During a free trial the limit is $1.50 for the smarter AI model and a further $0.50 for the faster one, $2.00 in all. Voice (spoken replies and the cloud microphone) can use up to a third of it. Whatever the plan, no account uses more than $25 of AI and voice in any month, counted from the day of the month the subscription was bought. On Pro Monthly and Pro Yearly, once the smarter model's share is used, the faster model keeps going until the account has used $25 in the month ($25 for each month on Pro Yearly, added the same way). The amounts for each plan are shown on the plan card in You, Plan. Without Pro, the limit is $1.50 a month, of which voice up to $0.50, and spoken replies use your device's own voice. If a renewal payment hasn't gone through, the limits without Pro apply until it does.
- There is no separate limit on how much you can use in a single day: your plan's limit for its period is the limit. Limits are per account, so other people's use never counts against yours, except a few limits against abuse that count every request coming from one network address (such as a flood of requests from one place).
- When you reach your plan's limit, new lectures, practice questions and drawing plans are made overnight instead of right away and are ready the next morning; grades and drawing checks are made by a faster AI model and say so; chat, flashcards and quizzes keep working up to a further share; and spoken replies and the microphone switch to your device's own voice and listening. The limit starts again when your plan renews (on Pro Yearly, another month's share is added on each monthly anniversary of the day you bought or renewed it). Use is counted by the day, and each day counts toward one period: on the day a plan renews, all of that day's use counts toward the new period, from midnight. The one exception is a free trial's last day, which also counts toward the first paid period. Without Pro, AI tutoring pauses until the 1st of the next month. Days, and the months without Pro, start at midnight Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), which is the evening before in the US. Nothing is lost, and the app tells you the day a limit lifts.
Library and other sources
The Library uses passages from OpenStax textbooks under a Creative Commons license, public-domain drug labels and original material, as the Credits page says. Those sources keep their own licenses, which control over these Terms for that content.
Sancy AI may link to or work with other services, such as your calendar app or Apple. We do not control them, and your use of them is under their own terms and privacy policies.
The iPhone and iPad app
If you got Sancy AI from Apple's App Store, these extra terms apply, and they control if they conflict with anything else in these Terms:
- These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content.
- We give you a license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as Apple's Usage Rules in its Media Services Terms allow.
- Apple has no duty to provide any maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to meet any warranty that applies, you can tell Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty duty for the app, and any other claim, loss or cost from a failure to meet a warranty is ours, as limited by these Terms.
- We, not Apple, handle any claim by you or anyone else about the app, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- If anyone claims that the app or your use of it infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, will investigate, defend, settle and discharge that claim.
- You confirm that you are not in a country under a U.S. government embargo or named as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Questions, complaints or claims about the app go to us at the contact details at the end of these Terms.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Once you accept them, Apple may enforce them against you.
Our property
Sancy AI, its software, design, text, answer-key method, Library content we wrote, name and logo belong to Sancy AI LLC, a Texas limited liability company or its licensors. As long as you follow these Terms, we give you a personal, revocable, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use Sancy AI for your own learning. We keep every right we do not expressly give you.
Sancy AI, including its source code, design and look and feel, text, original study briefs, lesson, board and question designs, pictures we made, name and logo, is protected by copyright, trademark, trade secret and other law. Library material from other sources stays under its own license, as the Credits page says. We reserve every right we do not expressly give you. Do not remove or change any copyright or other notice. Do not use the Sancy AI name or logo, or anything confusingly like them, as your own name, app, website address or social media handle. If someone copies or misuses Sancy AI, we may ask their host, app store or domain registrar to take it down, ask a court for an injunction, and seek the damages and other relief the law allows. To report a copy of Sancy AI, email support@sancyai.com with the subject Copying report.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without any duty to you. Feedback is not your content and does not include your notes or sessions.
Changing, suspending and ending
We may change, add or remove features. If a change takes away something important you pay for, we will tell you first, and you can cancel.
We may suspend or close your account, or limit what it can do, if you break these Terms, if we must for legal reasons, if your use creates risk or possible legal exposure for us or others, or if you are under 18. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you why and give you a chance to fix it first. We may act at once, without telling you first, when the reason is illegal content, a threat to anyone's safety, fraud or abuse of payments or limits, an attack on our security, or a legal order; we will tell you why afterwards unless the law or an investigation does not let us. If we close your account for breaking these Terms, you may not open another, and we may close any other account you open (this does not apply to an account closed only because you were under 18, once you are 18). If we close a paid account for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund the unused part of a website subscription.
You can stop using Sancy AI and delete your account at any time. If we close Sancy AI altogether, we will give you at least 30 days' notice and a way to export your data.
Sections of these Terms that by their nature should last beyond the end of your account still apply afterwards, including Your content (for copies we may keep), Our property, AI can be wrong, the disclaimer, the limit of liability, Indemnity, and Disputes and arbitration.
Disclaimer of warranties
SANCY AI AND EVERYTHING IN IT, INCLUDING WHAT THE AI MAKES, IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE MAKE NO WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT OR ACCURACY, OR THAT SANCY AI WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT YOUR DATA WILL NEVER BE LOST.
Some states do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of this may not apply to you.
Limit of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, NEITHER WE NOR OUR MEMBERS, MANAGERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS OR SUPPLIERS ARE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, GRADES, DATA, OPPORTUNITIES OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO SANCY AI OR THESE TERMS, EVEN IF WE WERE TOLD THEY WERE POSSIBLE.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO SANCY AI OR THESE TERMS IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF WHAT YOU PAID US FOR SANCY AI IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT THAT GAVE RISE TO THE CLAIM, AND $100.
These limits apply to every theory of liability, including contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability and statute. They do not limit liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as for fraud, gross negligence or willful misconduct, and some states do not allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Indemnity
To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend and cover Sancy AI LLC, a Texas limited liability company and its members, managers and employees against any third-party claim, and the reasonable costs of it, including legal fees, that arises from content you uploaded, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of the law or of someone else's rights. We will tell you about such a claim, may control its defense, and will not settle it in a way that admits fault for you without your agreement.
Disputes and arbitration
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT AFFECTS YOUR RIGHTS, INCLUDING YOUR RIGHT TO SUE IN COURT, TO A JURY TRIAL AND TO TAKE PART IN A CLASS ACTION.
Talk to us first. Before starting an arbitration or a small claims case, the side with the dispute sends the other a written notice: your name, the email on your account, what the dispute is about and what you want. Send yours to support@sancyai.com with the subject Dispute notice, or by mail to the address below; we send ours to the email on your account. Both sides then try in good faith to settle it for 60 days, including a phone or video call if either side asks, which you may attend with a lawyer. No one may start an arbitration until this is done, and the time limit for bringing a claim is paused for those 60 days.
Binding individual arbitration. If the dispute is not settled, you and Sancy AI LLC, a Texas limited liability company agree that any dispute, claim or controversy arising from or relating to Sancy AI or these Terms, including whether this section applies or can be enforced, will be settled by final, binding arbitration before a single arbitrator, and not in court. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section. The American Arbitration Association (AAA) runs the arbitration under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, and, where they apply, its Mass Arbitration Supplementary Rules, as in effect when the arbitration starts (adr.org). A hearing, if any, takes place by video or phone, or in person in the county where you live or another place we agree on. The arbitrator may award any individual relief a court could, under the law, these Terms and the limits in them, and must give a written decision.
Fees. We pay all AAA filing, administration and arbitrator fees beyond what you would have paid to file a case in court, unless the arbitrator finds your claim was frivolous or brought for an improper purpose. Each side pays its own lawyers unless the law or the arbitrator awards fees to you; we will not seek our legal fees from you unless your claim was frivolous.
Exceptions. Either side may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court, if it qualifies and stays there. Either side may ask a court for an injunction to stop infringement or misuse of intellectual property. Nothing here stops you from bringing a matter to a government agency.
Time limit. To the extent the law allows, any claim or dispute arising from or relating to Sancy AI or these Terms must be brought within two years after the day it could first have been brought, or it is barred. This applies in arbitration and in court, whether or not you opt out of arbitration. The 60 days of talks under Talk to us first do not count toward the two years. If the law of your state does not allow a time limit this short for a claim, the longest time it does allow applies instead.
NO CLASS ACTIONS. YOU AND WE MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST EACH OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR OUR INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY CLASS, COLLECTIVE, CONSOLIDATED OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. The arbitrator may not combine more than one person's claims, and may award relief only in favor of the individual asking for it and only as needed for that person's claim. YOU AND WE EACH GIVE UP THE RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL.
Many similar cases. If 25 or more similar demands are filed against us or by us by the same or coordinated lawyers or organizations, they are handled in batches under the AAA's Mass Arbitration Supplementary Rules: the first batch of up to 10 cases (chosen half by each side) goes forward first, the rest wait, and the time limit for the waiting claims is paused until their batch begins. The sides then try mediation in good faith before the next batches go forward. A court may enforce this paragraph.
If part of this section fails. If the class action waiver is found unenforceable for any claim, that claim (and only that claim) goes to a court named in Governing law, and is paused until the individual claims in arbitration are decided. If a claim asks for public injunctive relief and the law says that part cannot be arbitrated, that part goes to court after the rest has been arbitrated. If any other part of this section is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
Opting out. You can opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of the day you first accept these Terms, by emailing support@sancyai.com from the address on your account with the subject Arbitration opt-out and your name. Opting out does not affect anything else in these Terms, and disputes then go to the courts named in Governing law.
Changes. If we change this section, we will tell you at least 30 days before the change takes effect. You can reject it by emailing us before then, and this version will keep applying to disputes between us.
Governing law
These Terms and any dispute about Sancy AI are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except that the Federal Arbitration Act governs the Disputes and arbitration section. A claim that is not arbitrated may be brought only in the state or federal courts located in Collin County, Texas, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction, unless the law where you live gives you the right to sue there. This does not take away any protection the consumer laws of the state where you live give you.
Messages from us
You agree that we can send you electronic messages and notices about your account, including sign-in codes, receipts, changes to these Terms and the Privacy Policy, and notices the law requires, by email or in the app, and that these meet any requirement for written notice. Marketing email, if we send any, always has a link to stop it. We do not send text messages.
General terms
- These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the other pages they mention are the whole agreement between you and us about Sancy AI, and they replace any earlier agreement on the subject.
- If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, it is changed only as much as needed to make it enforceable, and the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a part right away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
- You may not transfer these Terms or your account to anyone else. We may transfer them, for example as part of a merger, an acquisition or a sale of assets, and we will tell you if we do.
- We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as outages at our providers, natural disasters or acts of government.
- You and we are independent parties. Except for Apple, as the iPhone and iPad app section says, no one else has rights under these Terms.
- You agree to follow U.S. export and sanctions laws when you use Sancy AI.
- Headings are only for convenience. "Including" means including without limitation.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If we change them in a way that matters, we will email you at least 30 days before the change takes effect (or sooner if the law or a safety need requires) and ask you to agree again in the app the next time you sign in. If you do not agree, you can cancel and delete your account before then. A change does not apply to a dispute we already know about. The date at the top says when they last changed.
